Love Rx

Would that there were medication

For a broken heart.

Pills to crush, dissolve and numb

What living tears apart.

Would that there were mirrors

In the chambers of a soul

To reflect on what I can’t explain,

Words out of my control.

Would that there was some elixir

To calm a racing mind,

Something to erase the wake

Of what loving leaves behind.

Would that there were ample means

To vaccinate the pain.

Would you choose to be immune

Or risk injury again?

How does a thing with rhythmic march

Feel erratic ways?

Militantly trapped inside

A coronary maze.

Maybe that’s why fairytales

Have led us all astray.

Void of practicality,

Reality in disarray.

Would that there were golden stitches

For a wounded heart.

But we bleed with every beat,

So choosing is the hardest part.

As the weary adage states,

We choose to love and lose.

But all I ask is that affection

Never be refused.

Would that there were medication

For a broken heart.

Pills to crush, dissolve and numb

What feeling tears apart.

  1. Girl, this is sooooo good! I think you need to do more poetry, this one hit me like a ton of bricks. What a great love song this would be if you and K could put it to music! Just spoke to her and it sounds like she is coming home tomorrow. Who knows what’s next???
